Donation and Transplant System Explorer
About This Application
This application aims to allow the user to explore various trends in the
donation and transplantation system in the United States, either nationally or for
a specific organ procurement organization (OPO) or transplant center. The trends are based
on the most recent SRTR data and are updated monthly. The user can select
various metrics to be plotted over time, with stratifications available for
organ types and specific subgroups of interest. Special attention is drawn to
the dates of allocation policy changes and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

About the Figure
The figure below provides a time trend for the chosen metric.
The trend is calculated using a backward-looking rolling window
(ie, on a given date, all data from the past 30, 90, or 365 days are used to calculate the value of the metric on that day; for
OPOs and transplant programs, only the 365-day rolling window is used). National trends are calculated daily, whereas trends for
OPOs and transplant programs are calculated every 7 days.
Relevant changes in organ allocation policy and the onset of the
COVID-19 pandemic are defined by vertical lines. All trends are
raw/unadjusted. Any apparent effect of a policy change or the
pandemic will likely warrant further study to better explain the
likely cause. Data in the most recent days (the right end of the
plot) are subject to change and should be interpreted cautiously.
